"Building Bridges, Not Barriers"

Tech for Trans

Transgender, non-binary, and gender-diverse demographics throughout Nepal navigate systemic challenges when attempting to enter the tech sector. While legal frameworks recognize non-binary identities on paper, real-world tech employment remains restrictive due to biased hiring pipelines, lack of corporate diversity guidelines, and missing inclusive support infrastructure.

From October to November 2024, the Pride Tech Kiosk Roadshow took place in Pokhara, Janakpur, and Kathmandu with critical support from the US Embassy and Beneath a Tree. The program trained 72 participants across the country, equipping them with digital skills and introductory workflows to open alternative career pathways.👉 Click here to access the full deep-dive story, regional roadshow breakdowns, and interactive galleries.

Ecosystem Realities

📈 Active data states that 72% of trans individuals inside Nepal experience barriers finding jobs due to identity bias (Blue Diamond Society research report). Additionally, less than 5% work in formal jobs, showing a major gap in representation across Nepal's rapidly expanding software development ecosystem.

Hands-on Regional Classrooms

The program sets up temporary physical technology spaces right inside regional communities. Participants practice building simple robotic circuits, compiling block-based Scratch animations, editing video layouts, and setting up additive 3D printing tasks. These projects are always paired with advanced digital privacy workshops to ensure every creator can safely build their online presence.
